About him
I hope I would be described as empathetic and kind, and with a sense of fun as well as a serious side. I'm a university researcher approaching retirement although still working full time at present. I'm recently single and a bit lonely although I see my three grown-up daughters and grandchildren fairly often. I like nature and the outdoors, especially mountains. I like books and ideas, culture and travelling. I feel very lucky to be born when I was, to have had the opportunities that I had and the loving families I have been and am part of, and to be still in good health and be reasonably fit. My enthusiasm for getting the most out of life is so far undimmed, and I would like to find someone to share those experiences with. I feel I have a lot to offer the right partner.

I think I would get on best with someone who has made similar life choices to me and has a similar outlook, values and interests. Those would probably include active outdoor activities, but also the world of culture and ideas. My grown-up daughters and grandchildren are very important to me, and I would be happy to meet someone who also has grown-up children and grandchildren. I'm looking for a mutually supportive relationship, a balance of give and take. I realise that we would each bring a lot of history to a new relationship, but I think it's important to also bring an open mind and some flexibility.
