About her
I'm an up-beat person, definitely a 'glass-half-full' approach to life and find much to appreciate and enjoy. I'm happy with my own company and spent two years recently travelling around the Uk, occasionally meeting up with people I knew but mostly going to new places, exploring and chatting with whoever I happened to meet. And I think life is so much richer when experiences are shared, and miss the physicality of being in a relationship. Whilst I am up-beat, I've experienced several close bereavements and would find it easier to be with someone who knows how sudden reminders can knock you sideways. I'm aware of containing many contrasts - happy in jeans and t shirt and also dressing up for an evening out for example. Not into make-up or pink!

Too many likes to list but a comfy bed has to be on there! Dislikes - spicy food, people who take an hour to say something that could be said in 1 minute, waste, right wing politics, dishonesty - and tick box forms that don't allow me to say, for example, "my hair is brown, grey and partly dyed red".
As you may guess, I love to swim in the sea, and live a short walk from the beach. Rough weather or calm, warm or chill, it stills me and enlivens me. I like cycling as a means of getting places and rarely drive. I used to be in a walking group and have been renovating a flat for the past few months so I suppose DIY should be in the list. Learning and exploring, time with friends. Foraging. And sitting down with a novel at some point most days. Growing vegetables and flowers is something I started at uni and I have only been without a garden while travelling. Best of all at the moment is spending time with my adult children and two grandchildren although we are very spread out so that tends to be in short concentrated spells.

Kindness goes a long way and is important to me. Also an awareness of environmental matters and a willingness to take responsibility. An ability to look within, an interest in keeping active, healthy and engaged with life, a sense of wonder and appreciation for the privileged lives we are able to lead. For me those qualities would blend together to make a relationship work.
Activities? Being outdoors, walking, swimming, cinema, theatre, volunteering, gardening, cooking and eating. Trying new things together. Curling up on the sofa, lighting a fire, massage.
Deal breaker - repeated breach of trust. We all make mistakes and I'd always give someone a second chance but, for my own well-being and integrity, not more.
