About him
The last few years have been pretty turbulent; divorce, new location, new friends, new occupation. But everything is now stable. There’s just one significant gap in my life; a long term relationship. That’s why I’m here, and hopefully, that’s why you’re reading this.
I retired at age 60 after a long, high-flying and demanding career as a business / IT consultant. After 5 years I discovered that I need to work. I need a purpose, and work provides both purpose and self-esteem. I no longer talk or think about retirement.
So I have a second career, the founding principle of which is that work I do must be enjoyable. My first career was high status. My second career is seen by many as relatively low status, but I get great reward from it. I am proud of what I do, do it to the best of my ability, and see it as a privilege.
I’m warm and compassionate. I love helping people and animals. Most at home with nature and the outdoors, I love walking and cycling. Passionate about architecture and great design in almost anything, not just buildings. Passionate too about the arts; music, painting, literature, poetry, cinema. These are what make life rich and meaningful. I'm just getting back into travel, which has taken a back seat over recent years.
An enquiring mind; I'm interested in anything and everything. We should never stop learning.
Please don’t be fooled by my photos. I do have a happy and smiley side, because I embrace and enjoy life. But it’s only part of the story. I’m a deep thinker, with many passions. I love deep, meaningful conversations, not so keen on frivolous small talk. I’m quiet, but I’m robust with a strong personality. Some will find me challenging, not suffering fools gladly. You will hear my views. I’m not constrained by political correctness or cancel culture. I am what I am. Take it or leave it.
