About him
First, a confession: the image of me with the dog is about eight years old, as is the one where I'm wearing tatty clothes in my living room.
My outlook on life: time flies and we're only here for a while. May as well try to have a blast while it lasts. I try to be like Viv Savage from 'This is Spinal Tap', who, when asked what his philosophy on life was, said: "Have a good time all the time." I don't think I manage it, to be honest, but it's an ideal to strive for.
Things I don't like: the obvious things such as rudeness or a lack of consideration for others, but also sheeplike thinking and an inability to see that worlds exist outside your own.
Things I love: eating and cooking, learning new things, reading, watching YouTube, making stuff.
I tend to like people who have travelled or lived in other countries or maybe who can speak other languages as I think they tend to have a good understanding of what it means to be human.
I'm a maker of things, so I like working with my hands but I also enjoy quieter pursuits such as reading.
I prefer the company of educated people who can string words together to form whole sentences.
I'm neither left wing nor right wing but despise the likes of Donald Trump.
I find religions of all types to be an utter waste of time and religiosity a complete turn off. I'm a fan of Richard Dawkins and Sam Harris.
I am socially comfortable but have never felt that I have fitted in anywhere! Neither at school (which was clearly a long time ago!) or at work. I am very independent.
I'm busy at the moment trying to change my career, starting right from the bottom all over again!
I like to think I am kind and thoughtful, but I'm also frank and to the point as life is too short for beating about the bush.
About his ideal match
I'm interested in educated people who have some sense of humour and who are to some degree cosmopolitan. I like a degree of kindness mixed with practicality.
A deal breaker would be membership of an extreme political party. As would a strong liking for television shows such as soap operas, and strong religious faith of any kind.
I am trying to get fit and to cut own on alcohol, so sharing any active pursuits would be good, even if it's just a long walk.
I like thinking people, even if they have ideas different to mine.
