About him
I am a fit, happy man who enjoys playing golf, umpiring cricket matches and watching sport in general. Cricket season Saturdays are (almost) sacrosanct! I have run, cycled, skied and scuba dived for many years but have had to stop skiing and running due to a knee injury and cycling has been curtailed. Most days start with the Telegraph crosswords.
I like going to the theatre and cinema and eating out and I love comedy, on tv or stand up. I like holidaying, travelling to many places in the world and sampling the local wine (preferably red!) whilst people watching. I also tour the British Isles in a small camper van but it would be great to share future adventures with someone special.
I love the sun and a beach but am also happy walking around historic sites of interest and am a member of English Heritage. Walking in the country, be it in GB or abroad is a pleasure. It could be said that my mottos are 'carpe diem' and 'use it or lose it'. I always have a book to read whether it is a detective book or on military history.
Don't expect to see me shopping unless it is in junk/antique centres or auctions. I love music and my tastes range from singer/songwriters such as Cat Stevens, Bob Dylan and Joan Baez to the Stones, Bonnie Raitt, Led Zeppelin and Beethoven and I enjoy going to live gigs of more recent musicians. I can't dance or sing (unless you want a flat note!) although I'll be happy to murder any song in karaoke!
My sisters-in-law tell me that I look younger than 74 and that I certainly act younger! (Their words, not mine!). I was a hippy in the 60s and early 70s and basically still have the same laid back philosophy.
I miss hugging someone close, holding hands and talking to and caring about someone who means a lot to me. If this happens, great. If not, c'est la vie and lets hopefully be friends.

I would like to meet someone who enjoys sport, walking, wine, hugs and travelling. Not necessarily in that order or, indeed, all of them. Someone to do things with but also to do nothing with. If it leads to something deep, great. If not, I hopefully have met a new friend.
