About him
Even though I am comfortable being on my own, I would prefer to be sharing and enjoying life’s adventures together with someone. I’m not your stereotypical guy who needs to “go out with the lads” or be glued to sports on TV. I realise how important are my children, grandchildren, family and friends, am very grateful for their love and support, and even appreciate my brother’s jokes. They would probably describe me as thoughtful, caring, calm, well-organised, dependable, kind, affectionate, practical and creative. I try to eat healthily, keep fit and never stop being amazed at God’s creation. I’m a bit of a romantic, so would enjoy spoiling someone. I previously lived and worked in Canada and USA for a number of years, before returning to the UK. I love to travel, explore new places and like planning the next trip. Recently had great trips to Washington State, driving around Norway, canoeing down the Dordogne, hiking in the Pyrenees and taking the train around Italy to Rome, Florence and Venice. A dream holiday would not be so much associated with a particular location but being able to travel with someone special and together experiencing a common enjoyment of whatever we discovered and whoever we met. I enjoy hiking, gardening, volunteering, photography, cycling, table tennis, DIY, visiting National Trust and beautiful gardens, etc. Plus the wonderful experience and fun of being a Granddad, particularly doing Water Rockets 😊. Definitely recommended to put a smile on your face. BTW I'm not looking for someone to iron my shirts and cook my meals. I can do all those things, from DIY to sewing on buttons and my cooking repertoire is not too bad. Rather my hope would be, to quote a song by Beth Nielsen Chapman, “How far away this world becomes, in the harbour of each other’s arms”.

I hope to meet that one special person, who is warm and affectionate, intelligent, needs regular hugs and can see the funny side of life and preferably who has a Christian faith or is open to faith. Is willing and naturally wants to talk about everything, able to discuss and explore around issues and topics. Would be a friend that wants to take the time to savour and enjoy together the many wonderful, yet simple experiences in life. A partnership where we would both know a strong connection, mutual attraction and feel completely at ease in each other’s company, with a foundation of trust, be accepting and encouraging for each to reach their full potential. Don’t want much do I😊? (Hope this does not sound too prescriptive, it's not intended to be a specification, but just some thoughts and hopes.) I know there have to be compromises by both in a relationship. But most importantly, to love and be loved, cherish, respect and to care, support and be there for each other, through the ups and downs of life.
