I have struggled with this a bit and did go off line for a few weeks to consider my way forward but have re-engaged now.
I think friends would describe me as genuine with no side or pretensions.
I'm honest, reliable, straightforward and loyal.
I can be self deprecating and have a dry sense of humour.
I can be slow to open up in new situations but once the ice is broken I am steadfast, I have friendships that have lasted over 50 years.
I have to admit brain is not always fully engaged when mouth is open, sometimes the clutch slips a bit.
I enjoy theatre, galleries, museums, stand up comedy, ballet visiting gardens, stately homes and historical sites
I like reading - factual, historical, Scifi. I dip into newspapers and magazines. I am inquisitive and interested in science, especially geology, history and current affairs.
My main hobby is photography - wildlife, landscape and more recently astrophotography
I garden after a fashion and I can cook, the end product is usually edible but not cordon bleu. I enjoy good food, wine and beer, all in moderation and am very happy in a pleasant country pub.
I try to exercise daily, enjoy country walks, follow several sports but these days as a spectator rather than participant.
I am moderately untidy but try to curb it, I cannot dance and nobody would call me a snappy dresser although I can scrub up nicely when necessary.
I retired several years ago having spent most of my working life as a vet in Dorset. No surprise then that I like and get on with most animals.
I have travelled widely, mainly in search of wild places, magnificent landscapes and wildlife. I prefer to travel with a partner or in a small group of like minded people. My desire for out and out adventure has moderated as I have got older. I realised that I am not immortal, risk taking is, well, risky and that time takes it's toll, but there is still a lot of the world I want to see. One thing I am not, is a creature of the beach.

I would like to meet somebody who is kind, loyal, bright, mature, intelligent, understanding, calm, avoids drama and can see the funny side of life. But also someone who knows their own mind and is independent. Someone who is reasonably fit but not obsessive. Most importantly they need to be straightforward, honest and open.
