I am a happy, fun loving, jolly, intelligent, caring and considerate widower who is looking for someone special to share my life. I am keen to travel, enjoy days out and make new memories.
13 years in engineering, working in power stations, coal mines, textile mills, etc. Mature student, BA Politics & History & PGCE. 28 years a FE College Lecturer in Manchester. Widower with two wonderful step daughters. Joined the hippie trail to Kathmandu in 1968, and Marrakesh in 1969. Enjoyed a dozen long haul holidays since retiring. Involved in left-wing politics in the past. I tend to read a couple of books a week. I’m a regular attender at Accrington Stanley.
I have the ability to listen, observe, and to hopefully grasp the other person’s thoughts. Empathy and understanding with regards to personal/romantic relationships are essential. To successfully communicate emotionally has always been my aim, but occasionally I’ve found it hard to find the appropriate words.
Before lockdown, I joined in organised rambles of 6-10 miles, but breaking my hip curtailed that activity. I still do enjoy short walks in the country, but after a couple of hours I can feel the pain.
I’ve been up in a hot air balloon, and been on three helicopter flights. I’ve attended the theatre, folk clubs and jazz clubs regularly since the 1960s. I’ve given lectures locally on The Coming Financial Crisis, The Green New Deal, Existentialism, Afghanistan, and Ukraine. I’ve written six books.
