About her
I hope my friends and family would describe me as funny, loyal, easy to entertain and interested in a really wide variety of subjects and activities. I am a pretty forgiving person and have an occasionally dark/dry sense of humour. Like most people, my life hasn't always been straightforward and I am understanding of other people's problems and good at helping friends and colleagues sort themselves out. I am intensely practical and like getting stuff done. I love good food, varied theatre, reading, travelling and spending time outdoors. I am a runner and a keen swimmer, and I go to the gym. Staying fit and being active is really important to me. I have strong views about society and equality of opportunity, particularly for children, and my job reflects those interests. I'm sociable but probably enjoy being in a small group of good friends having a long chat and a laugh more than being at parties - but can cope at a party if there is some decent food and I know what time the cab is coming!

I'm an independent woman and I like men who value their space and independence, too. I enjoy spending time with blokes when they have lots of talk about, share some of my interests and I share some of theirs. But there's no need for us to spend every waking moment together to have a close relationship. I'm a busy person and respect other people's commitments and the things they need to fit into their life, as well as finding time for me and our relationship. I'd probably find a man who didn't like live music or good food or going to different places, difficult to get on with. I don't like small-minded, right-wing views or people who are constantly criticising others. It's boring. Life can be incredibly interesting, funny and fulfilling and I am looking for someone else who thinks that.

Linda's my older sister so I might not be the best person to give an unbiased view but I'm doing this because she'll have been too modest in whatever she says about herself, for sure. She's a brilliant sister - she's survived a few of life's challenges and could give lessons in keeping your sense of humour whatever happens, and she's helped me get through some tricky times, too. She's got a lot of energy and drive and a clear sense of what she thinks is worth spending her time and talents on, which is inspiring. We've travelled abroad a lot together and she's always open to new cultures and experiences and gets a lot of pleasure from noticing the differences and similarities between people's lives. Her kids, who are all adults now, share her innate interest in the world and other people. It's in the genes. You won't meet a more lively or decent woman who will ask you questions and not just talk about herself. It's a rare quality!
