Hi,
Some things about me you should know before going any further...
I went to a boarding school in Yorkshire but I’m not posh. I served in the Royal Navy then studied History and Philosophy at Liverpool University. I now work as a special needs tutor.
I’m quite an ethnic cocktail (Irish, Catalan, Anglo-Indian and Eastern European). I’m in pretty good shape (quite wiry) and I exercise regularly.
I like teaching but I love writing and I’m interested in progressive/environmental issues. I’m also into nature, animals, fell-walking, wild camping, wild swimming, skiing, reading, music (eg Radio 6), festivals, the arts and general adventuring. I did a lot of overland travelling in my youth but not so much these days.
I live in a terraced cottage in Clitheroe which I’m in the process of improving, and I have a small garden in which I try to grow vegetables. I have no children but I have no problem with meeting people who do. I’d call myself more of a ‘person person’ than a ‘people person’, if you know what I mean…?
I'm not very materialistic nor mainstream. Much of what I buy is secondhand (I draw the line at underwear) and I try to support sustainable/organic/fairtrade organisations. However I’m also a bit of a hypocrite: eg I sometimes eat meat, I covet classic sports car and I occasionally fly.
And though I'm generally a laid-back kind of a guy, I'm no walk-over...
