About her
I love to smile. Quietly. I'm a passionate person, be it about my work, my hobbies, or the people I'm close to. I don't like being alone, but I'm also not a big socialiser. Sometimes I'm happiest underwater (I've been scuba diving for 25 years and it's my greatest passion), when I get lost in playing piano, or when I'm running. I also love skiing, hiking, swimming, travelling anywhere. Over the years, I have lived and worked across several countries in Europe: Germany, Portugal, Poland, Spain, Turkey, Malta, and now Scotland.
I like pushing boundaries, and sometimes I think I feel too much and then it hurts. But this is being alive.
What I love most is sharing experiences, doing things together and talking about them. My friends would say I'm a dedicated person who is reliable and "gets things done". This dedication, however, can also be in combination with stubbornness and impatience, and, yes, I agree that I step on other people's toes occasionally when I feel things don't happen quickly and competently enough. For which I'm deeply and sincerely sorry if that happens, and I do apologise.
My greatest value is trust and integrity - in both directions: I cannot love, and live, without trust, but my greatest promise is also that I can be trusted: I don't do lies, and I don't believe in so-called "white lies" either. If I smile, I am happy. If I'm not happy, you will see it in my face. I don't claim I'm easy to get on with, but it will never get boring. Some people also find that I'm having too serious an outlook on life, and I'm aware that I can come over as being that. This isn't the case: My ultimate goal is to be happy in life, but I don't pursue a short-lived superficial kind of happiness. I believe happiness goes deeper, and it's like a partnership: it needs work, it has ups and downs - but if it's there, everything is possible.
About her ideal match
I don't believe in an "ideal" match. But I do believe in core qualities - values and attitudes that are the foundation for everything else. Most importantly, perhaps, trustworthiness. Then there is an awareness that there are always good times and bad times, and a willingness and determination to live through both. I have learnt I need a partner who is strong - not because I'm weak and need support (although everyone needs support at some point), but rather the opposite: I'm looking for a partner who matches my strength and doesn't feel inferior. A relationship can only work if my partner accepts that I, unintentionally, step on his toes, but this is because I get carried away - not because I don't respect him. This requires a willingness to tackle, rather than avoid, difficult conversations, and do so immediately rather than "swallow" things and have them build up. Basically, I believe a partnership needs a determination to make it work, rather than expecting everything to be perfect. However, what I find very important is a positive outlook on life as the default mode, and sharing this outlook.
I also find it important to share a motivation to be physically active. I'm happy to go running (or to the gym) alone, but I'd like to share the motivation to go walking or hiking or simply explore places. I wouldn't expect a partner to share my enthusiasm for cave diving, but I do admit that "normal" diving is very important to me, and sharing a passion for the sea is essential. It doesn't have, though, to be all outdoors activities: I also appreciate sharing an interest in the arts, theatre and music. Nobody can be an expert in everything, but one can be interested in (almost) anything, based upon a general curiousness in learning.
