Thank you for visiting my profile . . .
I'm a confident, though non-assertive, well travelled guy of average intelligence, whose recently moved to West Sussex.
I spent my early years in Singapore during the 1960s, and later in life my work frequently took me abroad. During the 90s, when responsible for money laundering investigations in the Caribbean region, I lived in Jamaica. Despite the then dangers in Kingston, I fell in love with the country, the people and the food. As for Blue Mountain coffee — well, Ian Fleming was correct.
I'm a sun, beach, warm sea type of person — though don't object to après ski activities.
A few other likes: Wimbledon fortnight, Corsica, a balmy English summer, history, the Monaco GP weekend, Ireland, dark chocolate, the Sussex coast, Dire Straits, India, Talisker whisky, Richmond Park, McLaren F1, Jamaican mornings, Sudoku, Putney and I'm a bit of a Francophile — though not a fan of the Oxford comma.
I'm freqiently told I have a posh [sic] English accent — but actually, I'm 100% Celt (98% Irish, 2% Scot).
I know it's a cliché, however, in my head I'm still 25 or so. I said, in my head.
I'm a current affairs/political junky.
I have a lapsed pilots licence.
I've a VERY dry sense of humour — irreverent, maybe.
I'm not politically correct and despair for the UK.
Semi-retired, I'm attempting screenwriting. Two scripts has been optioned (for pennies), another turned into a novel by a Fleet Street journalist. Others are begging for the same treatment. Care to have a go? 50/50 split, etc.
Best concerts I've been to: Supertramp & David Bowie — both in 1983. Favourite track: Year of the Cat by Al Stewart.
Favourite film — Local Hero, though the final scene in The Long Good Friday takes some beating.
I was stumped for a username. My aerial smuggling days are way behind me — and such ventures were 'controlled', that is, legal. Allegedly, I was working for the so-called good guys; though I do sometimes wonder . . .

It would be nice to meet a confident partner who enjoys travel (both domestic and further afield), wildlife and lazy, occasionally debauched, weekends.
If you're a supporter of Keir Starmer or his government, we are not compatible. Likewise, the incompetent SNP who are currently destroying (my) Scotland.
P.S. The photo of the monk with the beard isn't me. It's an old masterpiece (worth circa £6M) by Rubens, one of a collection – including a Vermeer – stolen by both the IRA and an infamous Dublin criminal. Sit me down with a Guinness and I'll tell you how I recovered both it and a Palamedesz. (Spoiler: we got them all back, mainly via undercover stings, across Europe.)
