About her
I like to think that I'm essentially optimistic, thoughtful and young at heart. Perhaps the best way to describe myself is to highlight what makes me tick and brings me joy.
Increasingly, I find pleasure in simple things. Lured away from London some years ago, I value the peace and contentment of living and walking in the countryside. That said, I'm often drawn back to the city in pursuit of all the best theatre, music and art it has to offer.
I'm a europhile - a French and Italian speaker who loves to travel there, to eat, drink and soak up the atmosphere, especially round the Mediterranean.
Although I'm happy in my own company, I am sociable and like to feel connected. I value my friends highly and work with young people, who keep me on my toes. Radio Four and sundry political podcasts are my daily companions, even if sometimes these days I need to take time-out....
Music is important to me. I'm a keen singer with wide-ranging tastes from early choral music via Mendelssohn to Keith Jarrett and more contemporary playlists compiled for me by my son. I also love the joyful absurdity of playing the ukulele - I think shared laughter is vital for a happy life.
