About him
Although I have many interests, I am fundamentally looking for someone to converse and laugh with, and for us to enjoy each others company. I hope that can be you. Let's have a chat sometime and see if we connect.
I'm quietly confident with a dry sense of humour, tempered by a loving character.
I'm a bookish (I have hundreds and hundreds of them) and spend many evenings at the cinema.
I prefer old films (1940 - 1980) but see many new ones too.
I live in London and enjoy its theatre, opera, museums, galleries, talks, and of course BFI Southbank.
I also have interests in philosophy, history, economics, and culture, but wouldn't expect all of these to be shared.
Cycling along the Thames Path, near to where I live, by the river, is something I enjoy doing.
Travelling the world, and particularly travelling in North America - both in the cities and also camping in the forests is a favourite.
Does taking a long road and rail trip across North America in the future appeal to you too?
I like an adventure - I worked for a few years at a university in Kurdistan, Iraq - which I enjoyed.
I have enjoyed swing dancing in the past and would like to find a woman to be my partner on the dance floor, if that interests them.
My outlook is one that favours free speech, prosperity and democracy. Who doesn't?

About his ideal match
It would be good to find a woman who shared some of my interests, but not essential. Perhaps just happy to cuddle up on the sofa, sharing a bottle of wine and enjoy watching an old film (or a new one). Someone who wants to love and be loved.
It is difficult to get to know the real person through text messages. If you are interested in making contact then I prefer to move fairly quickly to a video chat, if both of us are agreed that we are interested in finding out more about each other. This avoids lengthy and time consuming email/text message interactions. A video chat also enables us to see each other and engage in a more natural conversation.
