About him
why indeed?
well, I think I'm a safe bet nowadays, considering early retirement after working away extensively for decades, now looking at post-work options in middle age. basically I value privacy, peace and quiet and need to do things at my own pace nowadays.
a little resume of me: trained as a mechanical engineer, I ended up as a marine engineer travelling globally. after a very near fatal encounter with covid, after being off work for months, I am left with on-going long covid problems and now work uk only on light duties. I feel my career is drawing to a close now, and may consider early retirement in the near future.
my other interests are antiques, I'm involved with an antique business and enjoy doing the fairs very much when I'm not working away. being a very practical hands on engineer, I have a large well equipped workshop and make all kinds of things including my own hi-fi amplifiers, a particular interest of mine, I prefer my hi-fi to television, and haven't owned a TV for years. I have a narrow boat nearby in a lovely quiet spot, and very much enjoy the peace and solitude it gives me. I like to try and have a few week's away on it, but this year has been a disaster! by way of a total contrast, when I was off work for months, I did a furrier course in London. I learned the rudiments of working with fur, and thoroughly enjoyed it and now have a few friends in the fur trade. Sorry if you're anti-fur but I like to try different things sometimes, including lion-taming for my 50th.
I have to admit to being a devout cat lover, but living alone and working away so much having a cat would be difficult.
well, this is about where I'm at nowadays. middle age is upon me, and I'm afraid a lot of folk would find me irritatingly boring!
but for the select few, I recon I could make a go of it!

Do you wear real fur? Let’s have none of this faux crap, I can’t abide faux or fake anything, it’s second - rate. If i had my way cruella would have got that fur coat, i’m not a dog lover at all.
I do dabble in antiques a bit, so someone with a vintage retro interest would be helpful.
someone quiet, considerate, and generally cheerful would be good, I can't abide miserable people who whinge all the time about petty things. must be a cat lover! I don't do dogs.
I suppose I follow most of the accepted norms, but I can be a bit unconventional sometimes. having worked away extensively,
I do very much enjoy my time at home, and have collected some nice things on my travels. I don't feel the urge to jump on a plane anymore, but I'm not averse to short city breaks etc.
