About him
I am an affectionate, easy going, open, optimistic, honest, moderately intelligent and loyal guy with a passion for travel, cars and motorcycles. I am self-effacing but confident enough to start a conversation with almost anyone.
I am starting a new chapter of my life having lost my wife and best friend of 18 years to Cancer in 2021 and I'm willing to take the time to find the right lady.
What you see is what you get with me and that’s normally jeans and a t-shirt or Polo shirt, but not tracksuit bottoms. I can and do dress smartly when the occasion arises, and I know that I wear a suit well.
I am a confirmed petrol head and I own two cars and two motorcycles (I started riding again this year). I enjoy driving on trackdays and as a petrolhead I also like flying and powerboats although the latter two are treats rather than regular hobbies.
I have a curious mind and love travel particularly when learning about new things about people & places.
I love animals, particularly cats and dogs and my black cat Niamh is my more or less constant shadow whenever I am home. I don't have a dog at present but would love to in future.
Volunteering with my local blood bike charity (the Yeovil Freewheelers) is really important to me and is my means of paying back the NHS for their care and support they provide us with.
You won't find half an engine disassembled in my kitchen sink or a motorcycle in the lounge. I am what some people would describe as ‘housebroken’ although housework isn’t my favourite thing either.
Courtesy and consideration of other people is really important to me and I normally give way to other motorists, hold doors open for anyone and have gained more than one new friend by offering help when someone needed it.
Alcohol is something I normally only indulge in at weekends or on holiday. I don’t smoke other than a very occasional cigar (normally on a cruise ship!), I don’t do drugs and I have never had a criminal record.
I enjoy listening to music apart from rap and heavy metal.

I'm looking for an open, smart, romantic, emotionally intelligent and honest person who's happy to share new adventures, travel and (hopefully) isn't averse to trying new things, having a sense of fun is really important as are depth of character, empathy and respect
Building friendships is really important to me and I’d like to find someone who’s emotionally mature backed with a bit of a romantic streak, who’s comfortable with being physically and mentally close to me, someone with whom I can share interests and hopefully has some of the same passions as me, or is open enough to recognise that whilst they may not be interested it’s part of who I am and respect that we can have different interests and still be a good fit.
I love to spend evenings snuggled up and then go out and enjoy a meal with friends the following night or go to the theatre or a gig; just sharing space and time is a reward in itself.
I believe that relationships are about spending time together, being honest with each other and being willing to find a compromise that works for both of us if we disagree (hopefully not very often!); It's also about being able to have a snuggle together on a cold winter night, share a romantic meal overlooking somewhere beautiful in the summer, being comfortable in each other’s space even when travelling long distances or feeling grumpy and needing some TLC. Sometimes it’s also about being mutual support for each other, lending a sympathetic ear after a hard day at work and being the person to turn to when something bad happens.
Being willing to ride pillion or someone who rides their own bike would definitely be a plus but isn't essential.
I’m a competent cook and I’m happy to do the cooking in a new relationship, so I’d love to meet someone who enjoys food and an occasional glass of wine.
Deal breakers for me are dishonesty, cheating partners and not liking pets! I'm not wild about body piercings other than pierced ears or maybe a bellybutton piercing.
