About him
I've been widowed for two years now and I've been spending quite a bit of time travelling lately. I'm not someone who needs a lot of looking after. I am, by all accounts, a pretty good cook. For relaxation I enjoy getting out in the countryside on two wheels or two legs. I keep pretty busy between Surrey and helping my daughter with her restaurant in Bristol. I am very practical and I'm competent with most building, electrical, plumbing and general DIY skills. I'm very keen on reducing my carbon footprint and I would like to build my own eco-home/passive house.
After some time over in New Zealand I came back to help my daughter with the refurbishment of an old bank in Bristol to turn it into a restaurant. The pay is lousy, but I get to have cuddles with my granddaughter and we have special times together at the zoo or the seaside along with me babysitting her.
I’ll be downsizing from the family home soon. I want to have a Surrey base and something in Bristol. I also want to enjoy more of the countryside in this beautiful land so I’m planning to do more bike-packing on my e-bike (converted from my mountain bike).
I'm pretty practical when it comes to building and IT technology. I think of myself as an "Artisan/Technologist". I use technology to help me build things at home to good effect. I also look after a small property portfolio.
I walk at least once a week with friends discovering new parts of the countryside. I walked 117 miles on the Cotswold Way last year.
I love listening to good music and I like many different genres.
One of my greatest loves is cooking and I'm pretty accomplished, as most of my friends would say. Thai, Indian, Lebanese, Italian and "modern British" are favourites. I also cook hot-smoked foods on my BBQs or smokers. Enjoying good wine with food is one of life's pleasures for me.
I like to go on short breaks to different parts of the country. These have been a bit limited in the recent past, but I do get away with family on occasions. Exploring new areas is always a delight.

I'm looking for someone who is active, has a positive outlook on life, is honest, caring, affectionate and romantic.
I would hope to enjoy shared physical activities with them along with more cerebral pleasures, the theatre, the arts, good food and wine, visiting interesting places and enjoying holidays together.
