About him
I am an outgoing, gregarious person who likes socialising and making people laugh. I am caring, loving, compassionate and an old fashioned romantic. I always like to be generous; it makes me me feel happy.
I am interested in politics, current affairs and history (military and political). I am a bit of a film buff; enjoy watching television (mostly GB and Sky News); reading (military and political history and biographies) and enjoy going to the cinema. I enjoy classical music mostly, but all sorts of music, as long as it is tuneful! I like good food, eating out at restaurants and consider myself to be a bit of a wine connoisseur. I enjoy walking and visiting stately homes, castles and royal residences.
I love France and all things French, having lived in Cannes for five years. I also love South Dorset: Bournemouth, Poole, Sandbanks and the Isle of Purbeck and I visit often. My favourite beach in the world is Studland beach where I go swimming in the summer months.
I have a brother who lives in South Africa which I also love, having travelled widely there; another in Turks & Caicos and a sister in Oxfordshire.
I still enjoy enjoy going to clubs and dancing, despite my age!
I believe that life is for living to the full and we should seize every opportunity with both hands.

I do not like to be too prescriptive about my ideal match. Everyone is an individual and can bring something different to a relationship. I do not believe in soul mates necessarily making the perfect relationship. Different personalities often complement each other and can make a relationship more interesting and exciting.
Although I have strong political views, I am very tolerant of other people's views. In fact, I enjoy friendly discourse.
I consider loyalty, respect, tolerance and honesty to be the most important qualities. I would take a great interest in anyone's hobbies and interests which differ from mine.
