About him
Research Fellow in the Ocean Sciences (returned to my academic roots after a career with the U.S. Coast Guard). It's not yet clear what that might lead to, or whatever else is next. Otherwise, thinking about finally settling down for the first time since joining the Peace Corps many years ago (when I went to Kenya as a marine biologist) followed by a dozen or more assignments including in Europe and the Orient. I've seen and done a lot along the way, been very blessed and have gotten to do some things others only dream of. For instance, I was recently at sea for 8 weeks as crewmember on a research cruise documenting the problem of plastics in the ocean. And as long as I'm able, will never lose my interest in the road or seeing things in my own style of wandering. For true enjoyment, however, it's nice to have a partner with whom to discuss it all.
I've kept reasonably fit & intend to continue in an activist mode, with a pretty extensive network within the environmental community. I have native ancestry, never been particularly attracted by the mainstream or popular measures of success, and find a lot that's humorous in this life we lead. Scenic beauty is important to me.
I'd like to create a homestead in full partnership with that compatible someone. Travel a lot. Mechanically inclined, while hugely Green at the same time, I pitch in when there's work to be done and I'm good at repairing things (if I do say so myself).

Corresponding. Family & intentional communities. Political history. I play some and like all sorts of music incl. classical, folk, R&R and Congolese. I don't own a TV although I'm willing to admit there are a few good things on. I appreciate great art & writing (large eclectic library), hiking & cycling, swimming & diving, meditation, lying in the sunshine on a grassy hillside, tending campfires, wide-ranging discussions, walking holding hands, pups, growing things.
