About him
I'm interested in architecture, art and ancient history and like to go to galleries occasionally and look at, and appreciate, ancient and more contemporary buildings, of whatever description.
I cycle for fitness and fun and do so once a week with my friends from Bury. I play a lot of tennis, very much less regular golf and countryside walking, and I'm knowledgeable about the natural environment.
I am a keen forager and wildlife watcher as I go.
I have a reliable base in the mountains of Italy, where I spend extended time every year, generally all of July. I work, walk and generally relax, enjoying the general quiet ambience and the Italian culture.
I enjoy being practical and can turn my hand to most things. I have renovated a number of old properties in the past, and prefer the hands-on approach over employing tradesman. I'm also very keen on growing my own fruit and veg at home, and have had allotments in the past. My most simple pleasure is growing things in the garden, and although my garden has a sprinkling of shrubs and flowers, the main focus is productivity.
I have travelled extensively over the years, both home and abroad, and it'd be great to go on further adventures with someone of similar mind, so much nicer shared.
My linguistic skills are not complete-my Italian at best at intermediate stage. French maybe a little better, both need more practice!
My work is portable, so there are no issues for me in relocating to another part of the country.

My ideal match would be reasonably adventurous, enjoy simple pleasures, sporty perhaps and be interested in travelling, preferably off the beaten track generally.
Outdoorsy and practical.
Down to earth and takes pleasure from all aspects of the natural environment.
