About him
I spent my whole working life outside of the UK. 13 years in Egypt, 15 years in Dubai, extended placements in Mexico, the French West Indies, Central Asia, and France. My career path was very varied but I spent the last 25 years in IT, initially as a contractor for the British government, followed by a move into banking with Lehman Brothers. I will draw a discrete veil over my three years in the Caribbean and Red Sea in the mid 80s working as a scuba instructor for Club Med. I was waiting for IT to be invented as a career - honest! :-)
I'm now retired, living in Buxton and thoroughly enjoying it. My daughter and grandchildren are in the Northlands of New Zealand and I try to visit them at least twice a year. I was there in May and my next visit is planned for Christmas.
I keep myself busy with DIY. I live in a grade 2 listed building/flat that I'm renovating. I can turn my hand to just about anything but enjoy carpentry and electrics. I'm a decent car mechanic too so long as it's a classic 😂
Easy going, very interested in other cultures. My French is good enough to pass as a native speaker, my Spanish is rusty, and my colloquial Arabic is rude 😁 I love watching French movies.

It would be great to find someone who enjoys water sports - especially diving. It's not a deal breaker though.
I'm happy to travel but having spent my life on the road, it's not a priority for me.
