I am looking for someone to share things that are best done as a couple, particularly holidays and gigs.
Modesty prevents me from describing myself, so I will quote some of the better things other people have said about me: 'You don't seem old' my little sister; 'That's why we put up with him' a friend commenting on my wit: 'Pedantic' my friends - but their use of the word is not exactly correct; 'Perfect' the doctor on my blood pressure; `The best sommelier in the world' my wife; and 'Considerate lover' my wife. A not so good comment: `If Les Dawson had played the violin, he would have played it like that!' one of my daughters.
No, maybe I'm not that modest. I will say that I am very practical, good at most crafts and a proficient cook. I don't seek power but I am quite assertive - I would want you to share in a decision, but I would make it for you if you wanted. I am accustomed to doing the unpleasant things other people don't want to do.
Before retirement I was a chartered engineer. I remain busy with many DIY projects and by raising 10,000 young native trees and an arboretum on some land I own.
I have a collection of 50’s and 60’s classic cars and use them as transport. I don't show them, but I don't mind being accosted by admirers in car parks. Some of them like the cars as well!
I have many musical instruments and have tried to play them all with different degrees of success, ranging from OK to worse than 'If Les Dawson ...'. Before lockdown I was a regular at small music venues.
I recently sold my holiday home in France and bought one in Richmond, Yorkshire with a view to spending half the time there. My main home is in Warrington. I expect to tour Europe by car again, but for the time being I want to see more of Britain, and have joined the National Trust.

I can't describe your appearance as I don't have a particular 'type'. Conventional good looks and age are not important as long as you still want someone with a young man's libido.
Shared values are more significant than common interests. I'll accompany you to the theatre if you will come to gigs with me, but I won't expect you to fly model planes or fix cars.
I would appreciate a considerate attitude to other people, not just to family and friends but to everyone who could be affected by one’s actions or lack of action.
There is a lot of talk on here about travel. I like travelling, but realise that out of consideration to others we need to ration our travel to mitigate the effects on climate and the overcrowding of peoples’ environments. I won’t stop travelling, but will choose few long haul flights, and will make visits to other countries long enough to make the miles worthwhile. Are you with me?
